01 / THE PERSON BEHIND THE DANCE
A life between two cultures, devoted to dancing, creating and passing it on.
Benito García was born in Campo de la Verdad, Córdoba. He began learning flamenco at seven; at sixteen, an audition in Seville opened the door to his professional career.
He arrived in Japan in 1994. Since then, his career has combined performance, choreography and teaching. In 2007 he founded BG Flamenco Academy, now based in Akabane, Tokyo.
His work also spans television, advertising and cultural projects. As director of AL ANDALUS, he brings together artists from Spain and Japan and develops his own teaching approach: the BG Method.
