Today was no ordinary class.
Not because everything went perfectly, because it didn't, but because something more important happened: something began to emerge that cannot be taught directly.
At first, the atmosphere was calm. Sunday. Bodies moving a little slowly, faces still half asleep. But little by little, amid laughter, mistakes and repetition… something changed.
We weren't just learning sevillanas.
We were beginning to find ourselves.
Because there comes a moment, and it arrives without warning, when simply copying is no longer enough.
The step has already been learned. The rhythm is already there.
But something is missing.
“Your own way” is missing.
A lovely question came up in class:
“How do I do the final pose?”
And the answer wasn't in the step.
It was in each of you.
Because a pose isn't something you decide on.
It's something you discover.
At first, it's small.
Almost shy.
But if you repeat it, if you listen to it, if you respect it… it grows.
Like a letter when you first begin to write.
First, you copy.
Then, without realizing it, your own handwriting begins to emerge.
The same thing happens with dance.
Today we also talked about something very important:
dancing not from the outside… but from within.
Not raising your arms because “that's what you're supposed to do.”
But because something inside pushes upward.
Not doing palmas just to make a sound.
But to let the sound travel.
Not putting on a flamenco face.
But letting your body and your emotion be in the same place.
And that's where flamenco begins to feel real.
Not perfect.
But alive.
By the end of class, without our realizing it, they were no longer just steps.
There was intention now.
There was presence.
There were moments when someone's gaze… conveyed something.
That is the beginning.
And that stays with you.
Thank you all for being there, for trying, for laughing, for making mistakes…
and for continuing along this beautiful path.
And to those reading from beyond the classroom, family, friends and fans,
thank you for being part of this process.
Because flamenco isn't just what you see on stage.
It's everything that happens beforehand.
And that… is what matters most.
